one word cinema: spun

after the top
was round

your head

you pondered

this and that

it wasn't invisible

it stamped

your head

with a blistering

merengue &

then you wasn't

even.

after all the all,

it wasn't

even there.

This one's fun, but I had to add your label "spun sugar" to make more sense of it. "after all the all, it wasn't even there." Melts in your mouth like cotton candy.

T: Reading back through, spun sugar works nicely.

I assume you've thrown your own hat into this One Word Cinema ring, but you've got all yours archived for the upcoming chapbook.

Nope. I'm doing research for my thesis and reading ahead for a graduate seminar next semester plus writing my East Meets West blog, stories of my mother-in-law's life, and working for the university chapter of the California Faculty Association of which my thesis advisor is the president. Advisor is currently teaching a class in China, the whole of California's university systems are in chaos due to the budget. I'm doing another blog for work with political posts, helping my professor manage some facebook groups because China has blocked facebook due to the Urumqi riots, and in less than two weeks I will be running the entire office as the office manager and chief contract negotiator have already booked and paid for dream vacations to Europe. So my light summer job of answering the phones has turned into a deluge of fun. Oh, and did I mention a research project on religious repression in China with another professor in the department? Your posts are the cotton candy breaks of my day :)

Teresa: I knew there was a socially redeeming value to these One Word Whirligigs. Vicarious slacking. You gotta favorite color on that cotton candy?

Dee: Yeah, but they're sticky, too!

Oh I like the blue kind that has a pseudo-blueberry taste and makes your tongue a hideous color.
