Are you calling Tina fat? or are you saying that your feelings of love are larger than a QE II sized automobile? Gotta be careful with nouns there... or the glowing Guadalupe will get you for insulting your wife and the mother of your child.

Teresa: Just quoting Mr. Holly, amiga. Tina no es una gordita, though she does call herself a whale, as whale is one of her totems.

I love the line. Ranks right up there with Al Green's Love is an ocean I can't forget in "Take Me to the River."

I've heard the love is an ocean one. I guess I'm not up on Mr. Holly... before my time. A whale for a totem. That sounds interesting.

to borrow another songsters words:
Now some folks say its too big and uses too much gas
Some folks say its too old and that it goes too fast
But my love is bigger than a honda, its bigger than a subaru
Hey man theres only one thing and one car that will do
Anyway we dont have to drive it honey, we can park it out in back
And have a party in your pink cadillac

Ouch, Ms T! Buddy Holly's before both our times. Well, I was alive when his plane went down, but I was hardly conscious. (Yes, I was about five, but still hardly conscious.)

I can't even remember when I first hooked into the beauty and exuberance of "Not Fade Away." I think I saw Joe Ely do it in concert. Knocked me out. Obviously knocked Bobby D out, too.

jsd: I'm loving on this car Eros. Not quite as obvious as the Boss, but these came to mind when I read your comment:

Hop in my Chrysler,
it's as big as a whale
and it's about to set sail!

The photograph takes me back. When I was a kid, our next door neighbors had a Caddy of about that year. It was black. Back then "love as big as a Cadillac" really meant something.

Good point, Ms San: About the same as My love is as big as a Civic these days, eh?
