"Where the light won't find you..."
The playlist has put on a few more pounds...If you're in the right place and feeling in a lush life kind of mood, try Shirley Horn's "Here's to Life," with Johnny Mandel's arrangement.
How curious, I talked about Wild Horses last week, as the song I'd most like to include in my wedding. lol But my favourite ever version was sung by Jewel, live somewhere and there's no video version, only audio. I love that: Here's where the story end :) And I love Paco de Lucia! Also curious that you introduced Bossa Nova to the list because one of the great geniuses of this 'trend' Dorival Caymmi died just yesterday at 94.
DM: Glad you enjoyed some of the new music. Sadly, I've never heard of Caymmi (of course, I will now go in search of him), but I have loved Bossa Nova since I was a kid, all of it starting (for me) with Getz/Gilberto. I've seen Paco live with McLaughlin and Di Meola; that was an amazing evening.
I will play this next time I'm home and in my studio. You never know if the traffic in the gallery is "in the right place and feeling in a lush life kind of mood."
I understand about ambience, San. I've done a fairly good job of segues on this list, but Shirley to Wild Horses is a bit of a bump.
If you don't know Shirley Horn, she's well worth the time. Died, I think, last year. I discovered her a few years back (slow learner, me) and got swooped right up. Wonderful voice and piano chops, too.
