La llorona
From Ms Mood comes the sad news of Lhasa de Sela's passing. 37 years old. Breast cancer. 21 months of battling the killer. Ms Mood has introduced me to some very fine music over the past year-plus: all the other wonders notwithstanding, nothing as powerful as this...

Absolutely beautiful, and heartbreaking.
jsd: She is/was/is amazing.
This was amazing the first time I heard and saw it. She leaves a beautiful legacy behind.
Dee: This certainly knocked me for a loop: of course, I had no idea that she was battling such a killer in her life. I had hoped one day to see her in concert.
You know, Paschal, it was almost like I was listening the song for the first time just now. I hadn't seen the video, it is so brilliant, it felt like I was rediscovering the song and giving it a different attention.
Beautiful! She had such a young face and expression, didn't she? As if she never stopped being a little girl.
DM: I love the song and the video, and I love how luxuriant and earthy her voice is, all at the same time. The video is magical.
The vid is extraordinary - miracles and crucifixions and resurrections take many forms.
Richard: The more I listen to her since her passing, the more precognitive her music seems. I know we all carry our deaths: she seems to have carried hers very close.
Que cancion tan bella! Me gustan las palabras: "Fuego en la boca, fuego en el alma" y tambien "La luz de tu cara, la luz de tu cuerpo" (al fin de la cancion).
Teresa: Love the song, and love the video. Me gustan las palabras tambien. Love how she sings them.
The meaning is really great, too. It all fits together kind of mystically.
She was certainly a shaman.
Takes one to know one!
