Lookalike...

The common snipe. I couldn't find the gossipy one.

Awww...he's cute! Wish I lived near where he was photographed. That might be idyllic.

Glad to see you're over your SJP rant! Best thing to do is tune her out. And probably all her cronies too.

Per the movie list, Thanks! If you keep recommending movies to me we might as well become friends on Netflix. :)

Peace! & Happy Summer!

Remember the Mickey Mouse Club show? Wasn't there a part called Spin and Marty? On one episode didn't they leave some unsuspecting kid out all night with an open paper bag? They called it a snipe hunt? It was a joke?

Lee: Oh, I wouldn't say I was over the rant. I just had to finally go to sleep. Besides, I was about ready to rev up on something else my eye ran across, and "they" don't pay me enough to rant on endlessly. It may be a calling, but I still need to keep my day job...

Damn, San: I love it when I'm turned onto cultural information about which I haven't a clue. New World!

I guess I was always more a Tom Terrific kid; big crush on Shirley Temple before she turned adult and Republican; Mighty Mouse.

I went to the Almighty Arbiter of All Things Known, and this is what the Great Lord Wiki has to say:

"The natural alliances of Marty, Ambitious, and the new kids versus Spin, Joe, and the returnees, brought out by the snipe hunt and the Haunted Valley incidents, gradually gives way to a united effort by all the Triple R campers to compete against the rival North Fork boys in a rodeo."

Episode 11: The Snipe Hunt: Nov 21, 1955 (that would explain part of my ignorance: I was but a two year, two week old babe here in Tres Leches.)

But while we're on the subject, what was up with Roy, the 57 year old Mouseketeer? That was the question that burned in our heads my senior year in college, when we should have been cramming for exams.

I was 2 back then too. How did I know about the snipe hunt???

Ah yes, re-runs.

I'd forgotten Roy. But yeah, now that you mention it--he was a little weird. How do you remember Roy though? Were ya'll watching the Mouseketeers at Harvard?

I don't know if we were watching the Mouseketeers (I do know we were watching Hogan's Heroes re-runs religiously), or if we just got off on one of our wise-ass debates about the "issues" of the day (much like the present Murat incarnation's obsession with socially relevant issues). Tangential thought was undoubtedly the year's benchmark. I think I may have stumbled over Roy in re-runs with my youngest sister back in the Magnolia State. Watching Sesame Street together was a must.

Not to give Roy a bad rap, though: I believe that he was actually an animator connected with Disney Studios.
