Only Going Over Home

Last night, the San Antonio Vocal Arts Ensemble (SAVAE) gave a majestic performance of "Wayfarin' Stranger" at The Episcopal Church of Reconciliation here in Tres Leches. As chance would have it, I had just run across this in the afternoon...

Ummm...I'd listen to that wonderful video of them performing it again but...I'm listening to one of their CD's as I type. Go SAVAE! That whole concert was just so awesome!

Joy! & Community!

Ok, that one fooled me. I was expecting SAVAE. They do have a YouTube video. Guess I should go look for it.

Surprised!

It was indeed a great concert, and what a great space to have it in. Not bad at all for a 40 year old sanctuary.

Wish we could have them back for our 40th birthday celebration. :)

Cheers!

Might be just me or the sound guy, but it seems Ms. McKee’s voice has developed remarkably. Seems it’s filled out, got some meat to it, got something substantial behind it. In contrast, I thought her sound in the “I Found Love” days was thinner, more leafy, tofu tryin’ to scream over beef. Whatever the case, I love her voice now for sure, and that song was quite the showcase for it.

I agree, MissA. Exuberance (and probably whisky-slur) carried the day in "I Found Love." There's a diva range in Stranger. Go to her myspace plot and listen to "Late December." You may not groove to the Bacharach vibe of the number, but it's clear Miss Thang's been takin' voice lessons. Like Chaka Khan, that chick could throw down in her sleep.
