vamos a bailar

I ran across these vatos on PBS Monday night, a series on Latin Music. Prepare to have your asses kicked. Wander YouTube and search for the Fania All Stars, get their seminal 1974 concert, documented on "Our Latin Thing." It's definitely Latin, and it's definitely the THING.

Murat, I have a take home mid-term tonight. Why are you tempting me to blow it off and start dancing??? I am going to have to save this for the weekend.

Teresa: As the tail end of Paschal's Other Playlist will now attest, these vatos and Celia Cruz are highly addictive...

I'm so shameless, coming here for the music.
But you just post the most diversified and satisfying bunch of songs. :)
You are the thing!

I know. Your whole blog is addictive. Tesseracts and music and tricksters and Grendels and the whole nine yards.

Teresa: Here's hoping it's all at least better than comida chatarra.

No es comida chatarra. Don't you hear him say "Que rico, que rico"? And the chorus says It's salsa, and that's very good for you, all kinds of veggies. (Que rico, que rico means how rich, how rich, but it is an idiom for "how delicious"). Of course, they are making a pun on salsa the food and salsa the music/dance style so they go from delicious to dancing. Just like your blog!

So at the end you just have to do what the songs says and STAND UP AND DANCE!

Teresa: What a gumbo of waspy chinese latina you are: here in Tres Leches, there is a parallel restaurant called China Latina - just what it sounds like. The bailar you take for granted...

I think China Latina must have some great fusion food. Maybe I have to get dh to take me to Tres Leches for a weekend of food and dancing. Hmmmm. Must wait till the semester is over, though.

Waspy chinese latina mit ein bisschen deutsch, but we don't usually let the teutonic valkyrie loose on people as she tends to blast their ear drums out :)

Ja, you want to keep a watch on them valkyrie. Or at least ear plugs...

Ear plugs don't stop all that glass from shattering, and in California so many people go barefoot. It's a real hazard!
