Musically I tend to lean towards the Js but I'm liking these D's. Especially love Dusty with the flower in her hair.

These were okay, Murat. I liked the second two better than the first but I much prefer your jazz selections (and your boogeying cellists).

T: Acquired tastes, sho nuff. Devil Mood turned me on to Duffy, and I played - still do - "Stepping Stone" over and over. To me, she hearkens back to Dusty Springfield days. I was looking for a DS performance, but the ones I found weren't no good. Krall, well, I'm up and down on Ms Krall, but she's in the mix. Mavis Staples got it all over all of them, though.

Some day I'll have to find some erhu and post that on my blog. Let you acquire a taste or two or maybe three.

Oh this post!! :)
I love the Look of Love - it's such a fabulous sensuous song. And, as you know, Stepping Stone is one of my favourites.

As for the King of Sorrow, I do love that 'soup that warms your soul' part. There are so many ways to say you want to care for someone, but most of the songs out there don't try to find original ways of saying it, I guess.

DM: You are a "D," too, so this post was for you. So many great versions of "The Look of Love"; there's even a duet (on YouTube) with Bacharach and Vikki Carr: he's cheesy, but she rocks her part in Spanish - very sexy. I like this live Duffy version of "Stepping Stone," the way they take it out for a longer version: very pretty.
